The terrible cruelty of Toro Júbilo

Every year in mid November, the people of Medinaceli, Spain, gather to enjoy an event of unspeakable cruelty. For the Toro Júbilo, balls of ‘pitch’, a thick sticky substance derived from petroleum or plants, are attached to the bulls horns and set on fire.

A cheering crowd of blood sports enthusiasts harasses the ‘toro del fuego’ or ‘bull on fire’ once it is released onto the streets.

The balls burn for hours and hurt the horns, body and eyes, causing terrible suffering. In some instances bulls run against walls in a bid to escape the unimaginable pain and severe disorientation.

Please support our campaign by contacting the Spanish authorities and asking them to put an immediate halt to the Toro Júbilo.

Bullfighting is a cruel sport and in Catalonia we are going to soon pass a law that will hopefully ban it forever. Check it out in my blog
