There’s another side to fox hunting that the Countryside Alliance and their bloodsports pals don’t want you to know about: terrierwork.
Terriermen usually follow the hunt on a quad bike and, when a fox goes to ground (bolts underground), they will send their terrier dogs down the hole to fight with the fox and send it out of the hole – so that the hunters can continue in their sordid pursuit.
Dog fighting was banned in 1835, but this wasn’t. This photo shows injuries a terrier has sustained in a fight with a fox. But you can be sure the fox came off worse.
