The League spends a great deal of time at Westminster talking to MPs, peers, civil servants, and colleagues from other animal welfare organisations. This week, our lobbying has reached a very senior level – on which more later – but this reinforces the importance that key politicians attach to the animal welfare issue.

Perhaps the most interesting aspect of our Westminster work in recent weeks has been the ongoing fallout from ‘that’ article in the Sunday Telegraph. The hunters – including those on Liam’s Hunting Forum amongst others – aren’t entirely convinced by the rebuttal offered by Nick Herbert in the following week’s Telegraph. Indeed. word is reaching us from very well placed sources that the Conservatives are considering guerilla tactics to try and bury the issue without putting hunting in the manifesto.

Will the next Queen’s Speech include a repeal of the Hunting Act? We doubt it.
