Stop bullfighting from starting in China

Please help our campaigns by asking the Chinese authorities to stop plans to introduce bullfighting to the country next year.

Spanish newspapers recently announced a deal between the Chinese government and the bullfighter Manolo Sánchez to import a hundred cows and bulls to start a breeding farm in China. There are also plans to build a bullring by October 2010 which would be inaugurated with two bullfights. Regular bullfights are said to take place from 2011.

The League has teamed up with Animal from Portugal and CAS International from The Netherlands to stop this project. But we need to stop the export of bullfighting, a barbaric practice which has no place in a modern society. It is unthinkable that a country which has no history of bullfighting would consider taking up such a cruel form of entertainment. As more and more towns and cities ban bullfighting throughout the world, we cannot let new locations start the practice. We can only do this with your help. Please contact the Chinese authorities now and help protect innocent animals from cruel and unnecessary deaths.
