MP talks to constituents about animal welfare

Paul Flynn, the MP for Newport West, is holding a public meeting tonight on the subject of animal welfare. He says:

“The immediate issue that will be a factor in the general election is the question on whether we return to the cruelty of foxhunting which included the torment of the chase and the kill of the foxes. Parliament has declared this illegal but there are members of parliament determined to go back to the barbaric practice of killing foxes for sport. There should be a chance to raise other animal welfare issues, including the badger cull, animal experiments, greyhound welfare, whaling and circus animals.”

We would urge our members and supporters to go along and show Mr Flynn the strength of public support for the hunting ban. We applaud him for taking his constituent’s views seriously on this issue, and hope that other MPs and PPCs will follow suit.

The meeting is at 7.30pm tonight at the Civic Centre in Newport.
