Here, two dead beagles from the Stowe Hunt. They were both killed in a collision with a Land Rover back in the 1980s.

Don’t allow hunters to tell you that they care about animal welfare. If they did, genuinely, then such incidents as these would simply not be allowed to happen.

From 1992, another injured hound, this time belonging to the Cheshire Forest Foxhounds, is loaded into the back of a Land Rover, it’s fate unknown. But don’t forget how the hunters tell us how much they care about animal welfare…

Someone should tell this huntsman that he’s supposed to be followed by hounds rather than heifers.

It’s amazing what you find on the internet. Here, posted on an online forum for hunters, two lads pose with a live fox they’ve dug out of an earth whilst their terrier dog attacks the neck.

We don’t know who these men are. But we’d like to ask them permission to use their photograph, such is its quality. If anyone knows who they are, please email us at campaign@league.org.uk and we’ll get in touch with them.

Donkey Basketball

Our members and supporters often contact us to ask why we aren’t doing something about cruel ‘sports’ around the world. They send us links, photographs, newspaper cuttings and magazine articles.

The truth is that we can’t do everything, and with the current threat to the Hunting Act, we need to direct considerable resources at that campaign. But we can always highlight them here on the blog.

‘Donkey Basketball’ appears to be increasing in popularity in the US, and PETA have a campaign against it. It sounds very odd to us, and the animal cruelty is undeniable.

Despite their claims for care about animal welfare, their own hounds often don’t fare much better than the quarry. Here, in a shot from our archives, a hound belonging to the Bicester with Whaddon Chase Foxhounds is caught in wire.
