Image of the Day – 90

Another one that simply speaks for itself. Please help us to Keep Cruelty History.

Image of the Day – 89

Yesterday’s Word of the Day depicted a terrier somewhat the worse for wear after an underground fight with a fox.

Here, the terrierman decides that, before killing the fox, a bit of torture will go down a treat.

These are just the kind of sick idiots who want to repeal the Hunting Act. Yes, sick idiots. You’d have to be sick to get a thrill from this, and rather idiotic too.

Image of the Day – 88

The image of the mounted hunter, resplendent in his red jacket, is one that hangs on the walls of a million pubs, thousands of homes, and countless biscuit tins. It’s a scene of tradition, of yesteryear.

The side of hunting they never show you, and which never sits well with the idyllic hunting image, is that of terrier work, where terriers are sent down a hole into which a fox has bolted, to fight with the fox until it makes a run for it but ends up being killed by the hounds. If the fox were another dog, it’d be dog fighting.

Here you can see a terrier following in a fight underground with a fox, his nose blooded from the fight.

Image of the Day – 56

The image depicts a fox that has ‘gone to ground’ to escape the hunters and their dogs. Needing to satisfy their bloodthirst, the hunters send the thuggish terriermen in to dig the poor creature out. This fox has minutes left to live.

Terriermen are, by and large, the thugs of hunting. They enjoy encouraging underground dog fights between their dog and a fox and, as this image shows, they are often lurking in the shadows of badger baiting and other illegal activities.

It is right and proper that this is illegal, and it shows why we must work hard to Keep Cruelty History.

Boxing Day

Aah, Boxing Day. Left over Christmas dinner, gifts scattered across the floor, empty tins of chocolates, repeats of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang … oh, and the ‘traditional’ hunt.

Today, hunts will gather up and down the country for what some of the more gullible followers believe will be the last Boxing Day hunt before the Hunting Act is repealed. We know that this is not the case. There is massive public support for the ban on fox hunting, stag hunting, and hare hunting and coursing, and that’s why so many people are signing up to support our Keep Cruelty History campaign.

We’re publishing six films today, all of which show hunting activity before the ban. Yes, they are – in some cases – almost twenty years old – but they show very clearly the cruelty that returns if we repeal the Hunting Act. Please help us to Keep Cruelty History.

Warning: The films show graphic depictions of animals being hunted and killed. Please do not watch them if you think they may cause you distress.

Fox Hunting

Stag and Deer Hunting

Hare Hunting

Hare Coursing

Hunt Havoc and Violence

Animals suffering in a hunt kennel

If you find these films disturbing, then you’re already a supporter. Sign up to our Keep Cruelty History campaign, and find out more about our other campaigns. If you can, please make a donation; thank you.

Such a man! Such a prize! Such a statement … of animal cruelty that must remain history.

Britain was the first country in the world to make dogfighting illegal, in 1835. It still goes on, and next month the League will launch a major new campaign to raise public awareness of the existence of dogfighting. After all, it’s not far removed from terrierwork and hunting, and we’ve successfully campaigned against those for many decades.

Sign up to our campaigns on our website, and we’ll keep you informed.

So crucial is the cruelty to the hunter’s ‘fun’, they employ people to create man-made homes for foxes. This way, they can then easily flush foxes from these false earths before hunting and killing them.

Nice people, hunters.
